David Letterman’s question that made Jennifer Aniston very uncomfortable

David Letterman was once hailed as a master of late-night television, known for his wit and charm. But looking back, not all of his interviews have stood the test of time—at least in the eyes of critics.

One in particular was his interview with Friends star Jennifer Aniston. At first glance, it seemed like just another talk show moment. But watching it today?

“I couldn’t help but praise her legs”

A resurfaced photo of Jennifer Aniston and David Letterman has reignited debates about one of the most uncomfortable moments on The Late Show.

The interview took place in 2006, when Jennifer Aniston appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote The Break-Up, a romantic comedy she starred in alongside Vince Vaughn, who also co-wrote and produced the film.

The interview took an awkward turn from the start, when Letterman fixated on Aniston’s legs and kept praising them throughout the conversation.

Aniston, wearing a black button-up blouse and black shorts, quickly became the focus of Letterman’s admiration. He couldn’t stop complimenting her legs, and the camera even zoomed in to highlight them.

“That’s a spectacular outfit,” he said, before adding, “And the reason it’s spectacular is because you have spectacular legs. Fantastic legs.

You can only wear that if you have nice, well-shaped, muscular, long legs.”

The actress, clearly uncomfortable, tried to brush it off with a laugh, saying she wore shorts simply because it was hot.

Although Aniston remained poised, even she couldn’t hide her discomfort during this interview, where Letterman seemed fixated on her legs.

But Letterman didn’t let it go. As the conversation continued, he doubled down with another remark: “Your legs, you’ve got something there.” The exchange left fans embarrassed at the time—and even more so now.

As if that weren’t enough, he quickly shifted topics and began pressing her about her rumored relationship with Vince Vaughn.

He also pushed Aniston to say whether it had been Vaughn’s idea for her to “appear naked in the movie.”

Caught off guard, Aniston hesitated before deflecting, suggesting Letterman should have asked Vaughn that question when he was on the show.

He couldn’t resist mentioning her legs

We now know that Aniston began dating her co-star Vince Vaughn during the filming of The Break-Up.

In a later interview, she revealed he played a crucial role in helping her recover after her highly publicized divorce.

You are helping me a lot by following me

While discussing Vaughn, Letterman once again couldn’t resist bringing up her legs: “I can’t stop looking at your legs, I’m telling you. You’ve got something there.”

Later in the conversation, he made another comment that seemed to reference them, saying, “I hope someone at home is recording this, because I can’t stop looking at this shot.”

While it wasn’t entirely clear what he meant, Aniston’s uncomfortable expression suggested it was yet another remark about her legs.

And it wasn’t the first time Letterman made Aniston visibly uncomfortable. In a now-famous 1998 interview, he grabbed her neck and sucked on a strand of her hair. Aniston, clearly uneasy, wiped her hair with a tissue he handed her.

He then gave her another tissue to clean off the saliva, further adding to the awkwardness. Aniston handled it gracefully, as she has done many times throughout her career.

Known for maintaining her composure in any situation, she managed to keep the conversation moving.

Even after such an uncomfortable moment, she later returned to The Late Show, once again showing her ability to rise above even the most awkward encounters.

She returned to the show

Two years after her “legs” moment with Letterman, Jennifer Aniston returned to the show, this time wearing an elegant pink party dress that once again reminded viewers of her beauty.

Clips from the interview have recently gone viral on social media, but most people seem focused on Jennifer’s legs and overlook what she’s actually holding.

Because this time, the Hollywood icon had more than just her looks to showcase.
